Fun, love and Springtime Sprung!

3580 lr

At the beginning of April I had the real joy of being part of a wedding I was mega excited about, not only was the Bride awesome, unconventional and had found her most marvellous Prince but she is also my lovely cousin. Therefore I’d had some insider info about how this promised to be something wonderfully different!

Some stats-

Couples Names- Little Cuz Laura and (the very lovely) Karl

Wedding Date -2nd April 2016

Location-family home town of Manningtree, Essex

Ceremony Venue-local Church and Reception Venue- Red Lion Pub

The ‘vibe’-Spring boho, relaxed party, all pretty much homemade!

The dress-A Springtime Floral Bonanza- handmade by Mother of the Bride (my super dooper talented  Aunty Sally)!

And the Groom wore… a matching tie and a very dandy suit.

Oh and Bridesmaids…yes…10!!! All in beautiful emerald green! Plus 2 toddler helpers!

So it was a fantastic day, to be part of and to shoot and it was a wedding that felt like a real party and very individual-from the folk music to the fire eaters, the delicious giant curry buffet and the Bride reading out the Best Man’s speech which worked brilliantly. Proof that your wedding should ALWAYS be done your way!

Happy 2016 folks!

I’ve started this year off with plenty of fresh To-Do Lists and exciting project ideas and also with a really wonderful wedding fayre… yesterday I did the Cheltenham Vintage Wedding Fayre it’s a fantastic fayre to be part of, there are a lovely collection of local suppliers whose work I love. And so many beautiful things to enjoy from sparkly dresses to sparkly cakes and stunning stationary to beautiful British grown flowers, it made me wish I could do my wedding all over again!

I had a busy day with plenty of fun and friendly couples to speak to and have already had a couple of bookings which is fantastic!

So my year ahead is quickly filling up, I have a few slots left but as the wedding world goes I’m concentrating more on bookings for 2017 now!

So if you’re planning a wedding I’d highly recommend visiting the lovely Vintage Wedding Fayres and I hope to see you there!

Regional Finalist!!!

I’m totally delighted to have made it through to being a Regional Finalist in The Wedding Industry Awards, these Awards are really special as it goes on client feedback only and is all dependant on what feedback and scores your past clients give you. It really means a great deal to have such happy couples and know I’m doing a good job! It makes me incredibly happy!

Two years of mayhem!

My ‘baby’ boy is now 2! So as it’s all about what he’d enjoy we made sure his Birthday celebrations were active, cake fuelled and full of friends and family (and tractors obviously)!

We know this gorgeous gang (below pics) through doing Anti Natal Classes and the then bumps have ended up being friends that Wilfie (my son) sees week in, week out.

It’s great to see how they are all growing up and creating their own entertainment.

Two years of mayhem, of having little boys have also meant there’s been plenty of times when we’ve been worn out, worried and having a ‘support network’ (gang of chatty awesome ladies) means a laugh and reassurance is only ever a message/phone call away. They are such a rock to me and although every child and parenting style is different we all just want happy, healthy, friendly boys that sleep well!

So I really hope that until they won’t let us we will carry on taking one shot (at least) to mark their Birthdays and getting them altogether, our wild and crazy boys.

Lancaster Wedding Loveliness!

Here are some of the images I’m currently loving working on, a wedding I photographed in July. A gorgeous day spent with a couple who were laidback and loved up and their fun friends and family.

To explain the couple are members of the Young Farmers Association hence the pitchforks at the church after the ceremony (an old tradition, very glamorously done too!)  The church ceremony images, with those little glances, remind me of the reason I do this job, it’s such a special moment and such a joy to capture!

Oh and some brilliant photo-bombing during a ‘romantic’ shot at the end, many, many more to follow xxx

Radio Silence…

There has been a total lack of social media-ness in the last couple of weeks and I thought I’d just Blog a quick ‘hello’!

July whizzed by in a total blur of weddings, both small, intimate and massive and spangly ones (featuring a marquee with an actual fountain inside no less, wowsers!- preview to follow soon). To add to the fun we have started to have our house renovated to turn it into the ‘dream home’ we always knew it could be, so in amongst the dust and mud I’m frantically adding to my Dream House scrap book (that’s not tragic is it??! 😉 haha, I know it is! )

We also had our first foreign family holiday with our son (rapidly approaching 2 years old, ahoy there terrible twos!) Which was wonderful, different with child in tow but great fun, even the dreaded flight was fun.

We went to France for our lovely friends Elizabeth and Ben’s Wedding and I finally got to meet my namesake, their photographer Susie Lawrence, as I was enjoying being ‘off duty’ it was lovely to see them safely in her hands! As Susie said on her Facebook post- “Susie Lawrence Photography meets Suzi Lawrence Photography! My namesake was a guest at today’s wedding. Lovely to meet her x”

And it really was! Here we are and some more shots from Holibobs to follow soon too! xxIMG_3247 IMG_3239 IMG_3157

Awesome Twosome Siblings Photo Shoot

I’ve been lovely and busy with the portrait photoshoots recently and really enjoyed shooting brother and sister Josh and Georgia. They are such fun to be around, Georgia is a real little character and her brother Josh only stopped smiling in 1 picture! A natural born poser! The images were lovely to work on and I thoroughly enjoyed playing and capturing them! What a wonderful job I have! And thanks Annie for helping me get the best out of them and creating such little cuties! x

Feeling Inspired!

Hello! What a fantastic couple of weeks I’ve had!

I’ve been busy booking some lovely folk in for their weddings next year, photographing lots of babies, children and bumps from my recent special offer and this week I went on a Wedding Photography Workshop.

I’ve wanted to do a Workshop now for a while, but finding the right one has been tricky. An awesome friend of mine and fellow Wedding Photographer Naomi (of Lush Imaging) had mentioned an up and coming Workshop with Steve Gerrard, whose work I knew and liked and I investigated!

It was fantastic, as well as a short but fun road trip with my buddy I also met other Wedding Photographers all at different levels and all used to working solo, so it’s great to actually ‘talk shop’ and share ideas.

Steve was so relaxed, a fantastic teacher and an all round genuinely nice guy. We talked about loads of different elements and techniques and it was all really valuable. No matter how long you’ve been working in your industry or in my case how many weddings you’ve photographed there is always more to learn and ways to improve and I cannot wait to put these into practise!

Part of the Workshop was heading out around The Custard Factory in Birmingham with a couple and our cameras, here are some of the results.2005 lr 2009 lr 2013 lr 2016 lr 2046 lr 2056 lr

beautiful country wedding…

Whittington Church , Worcester and Worcester County Cricket Club

This wedding was such a joy to photograph! On a glorious day, despite dubious beginnings in rainy Cheltenham the sun was out!

As it’s so personal capturing someone’s wedding day it is a genuine privilege when they are such nice, relaxed and fun people. Sam and Dan had been funny and relaxed from the word go.

I’ve started to edit their images now and really hope they love them as much as I do. The beautiful church was full of rustic charm surrounded by gorgeous flowers. I was blown away by how stunning Samantha looked and her Bridesmaids and Flower Girl wore simple, pretty neutral colours and had wonderful British flowers all adding to the English Country ‘look’. Dan too looked very dapper in his blue suit, brown brogues and alongside his Best Man, (brother Matt) and Groomsmen. I will add more images from this lovely wedding, this is just a sneak preview!
